Toterly Summer Storage

Toterly Semester and Toterly Summer is our school storage service designed for Maryland colleges and universities. We supply totes, handle pickup and storage, and return your items for fall move-in or whenever you return.

How It Works

1. Receive Totes: After you sign up, we schedule a tote drop at your residence hall or approved location.
   Our totes are durable and stackable—roughly comparable to airline checked-bag sizing (≈63" total, e.g., 28+20+15).
2. Pack Them Up: Pack your belongings at your own pace (see policies below).
3. We Pick Up & Store: On your chosen pickup window, we collect your totes and any approved items (e.g., mini-fridge, microwave, large items), then store them securely for the semester or summer.
4. Return: Before classes begin, we coordinate your delivery window and bring your items back—ready for move-in.

What You Can Store

• Large Items desks, chairs, floor mirrors, bikes, mini-fridges, microwaves, TVs and monitors

  Many customers choose our $15 wrapping service to help protect items like TVs, microwaves, mirrors, and mini-fridges during transport and storage.

  • Desks must be fully disassembled before pickup. The desktop and legs should be separated so the desk is flat and ready to wrap. We are not able to disassemble furniture during pickup.
  • If you wrap your own desk, the desktop, legs, and drawers should be wrapped. Flat pieces such as the desktop and legs can usually be wrapped together, while drawers may be wrapped together separately.
  • TVs and monitors may be wrapped together with desk components when appropriate and will typically count as one item if securely wrapped. If attaching a monitor or TV to a desk top, please remove the stand first.
  • Floor mirrors should have corners protected with bubble wrap or padding and be fully wrapped or covered to help prevent scratches or damage to the glass.
  • Desk chairs generally do not require wrapping and can usually be transported as-is.
  • Mini-fridges do not require wrapping, but the door must be taped or secured so it cannot open during transport. Fridges must be clean and completely emptied of all food or liquids before pickup. Toterly is not responsible for items left inside the fridge.
  • Microwaves do not require wrapping, though wrapping them with plastic wrap or protective film can help protect the exterior during handling and storage. If the glass plate remains inside the microwave, it should be wrapped for protection and the microwave door should be taped closed.
  • No loose hardware: Screws, bolts, or small parts from desks or furniture should be placed in a sealed bag and taped securely to the item.
  • Individual wrapped pieces should ideally remain under 50 lbs for safe handling.
  • Items that are not properly broken down or secured may require our wrapping service or may need to be scheduled for a later pickup.
  • If you are unsure whether an item is ready for pickup, please contact us and we will be happy to review it with you.

  Tip: Once your large items are packed and ready, consider taking a quick photo so you can easily confirm everything is prepared for pickup.

Tote Size & Larger Items

If you pack your own box that’s larger than our standard tote, please share the dimensions (L×W×H). Items over typical checked-bag size (~61" total) may require approval and custom pricing. Most large items can still be stored at our standard monthly rate; we’ll review the details you provide to confirm final pricing. The Toterly tote shown below is packed with common household items. Use this example along with the tote’s actual measurements (26" L × 19" W × 14" H) to help estimate how many totes you’ll need.

What’s Not Allowed

• Loose batteries of any kind (lithium-ion, rechargeable packs, power banks, or damaged/swollen batteries — similar to airline safety rules)
• Perishables, liquids prone to leaking, or hazardous materials
• Valuables requiring special insurance (cash, jewelry, passports)
• Anything prohibited by your housing or campus policies

Pricing

Simple, transparent pricing with a 4-month minimum for summer and semester storage. Semester and summer can be combined where students are departing mid year (example December).

• $24 per item per month (tote or approved item)
• Semester and summer storage plans include a 4-month minimum. If items are needed before the standard return delivery period begins, additional fees may apply for early retrieval.
• Pickup, storage, and return included in the price

Policies & Notes

• Scheduling: We’ll send confirmation emails for tote drop, pickup, and fall delivery windows.
• Missed Appointments: Missed pickup/delivery will be reschedule as soon as possible.
• Oversize/Overweight: Items exceeding standard size/weight may require approval and custom pricing.
• Payments: You’ll receive a secure payment link before tote drop-off or initial pickup; invoices list all items being stored.
