Toterly Soundtrack: Traveling Across Two Continents Edition

I currently have seven songs that I listen to on repeat on my traveling playlist these days.  Truth be told, I am a bit behind on my music.  I need to find new music, albums, bands, and songs, which is on my 2012 list of things to do. There are some songs on the list that I’ve liked all year, and I’m just now getting back to appreciating, like Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night” and Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks,” which I associate with my lovely summer spent in California.  Other songs like Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” is a new discovery and instant love.   I saw Florence + The Machine perform on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago, and I didn’t like the version of “Shake It Out” that she sang.  The album version is so much better…richer, in my opinion.  Robyn’s cover of Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” is just fantastic.  And who doesn’t love Adele?  ”Set Fire to the Rain” hits me in my gut – in a good way – every time I listen to it.  Finally, to get me going in the mornings, I defer to the Beastie Boys’ “Nonstop Disco Powerpack,” for obvious reasons.

Music, for me, helps tremendously with my jet lag (and so does melatonin).  I hope to discover new music while I’m gallivanting around Europe for the next few weeks.  Enjoy the soundtrack!
